Anita Ekberg

  Kerstin Aita Marianne (Swedish pronunciation (listen) 29/09/1931 until 11/01/2015) was an Swedish actress well-known for her stunning beauty and striking silhouette. Her fame was heightened by her iconic character as Sylvia in the Federico Fellini film La Dolce Vita (1960). Ekberg primarily worked in Italy which she later made her permanent residence in 1964. Anita Ekberg was the eighth child in a family of eight. Anita was a model during her teens. Ekberg was a participant in the Miss Malmo competition in 1950 following the advice of her mother. This resulted in her winning the Miss Sweden contest. Even though she spoke very little English, Ekberg went to America to compete for the Miss Universe 1951 title.
